Paul’s Day 1 Blog

Quote of the Day:
“One more thing, just remember,
You’re gonna be great, You’re gonna be more than great
You’re gonna be amazing.”
– Doctor Who

Last night I set my alarm for 6:25AM. I normally don’t set an alarm… I am one of those people that can miraculously wake up any given time when necessary. But not before 7AM. Errr… make that 8AM! So 6:25 is always a challenge. Especially because I have been off of work for over a week! So going to bed, on average, a little after midnight and waking up at 10AM has been the adjusted norm.

I had trouble sleeping. I was kind-of pumped up and nervous for this 90 day challenge all at the same time. I’m not sure why. I woke up around 3:45AM sweating… said “Look’s like my work out is done!!!” I drank some water, passed back out and the next thing I know this frightening buzzing noise I am not accustomed to was flashing!! My iPhone alarm finally earning its keep.

I thought about hitting the snooze button.

But I didn’t. And then I fell back asleep! Day 1 and I am already blowing it!

Not so fast…

6:53AM I wake up in a panic. Popped up like the WWE wrestler the Undertaker, although not as creepy and not as cool, and grabbed my new “lifting” gloves, P90x3 DVD set and ran down to our brand new home basement gym! Brand new creepy (like the Undertaker) home gym… I hate basements.

As you’ll hear on the podcast, we had our weigh in and this is the exact picture I took from the weight in.

173.2 lbs.

A lot of people are going to look at that number and think that I am not overweight. Which I really am not. This process isn’t about losing weight as it is as much about GETTING HEALTHY. Changing my life. Not letting junk food control me! I have terrible, terrible eating habits. I’m sure I’ll elaborate further as this process evolves but I can assure you — I am not a healthy eater. In fact, my cholesterol levels that were just checked have been red flagged by my doctor. My cholesterol is 194. LDL is 127. HDL is 37. The 37, which is your GOOD cholesterol, is very low. I’ve been told simple diet changes will help this. We’ll see after 90 days as I plan to be re-tested and see where I end up.

Let me just say that I am in NO way affiliated with P90x3. I made the purchase after spending nearly an entire day watching Before & After YouTube videos several weeks ago. I thought to myself — why not — what do I have to lose?! But I have had serious doubts about whether I would actually get a solid workout from the P90x3 (1/2 hour workout x 6 days per week).

WOW. The P90x3 workout was one of the most challenging and difficult workouts I’ve ever had. So much so that I actually had to pause the DVD several times so I didn’t get sick. I am 100% certain that after doing this workout routine for 90 days and changing my eating habits, I will be absolutely ripped. But, more importantly, I will be healthy!

Today I’ve eaten:
Breakfast: ½ cup of oatmeal with ½ pint of blueberries and 1 tsp of Honey

AM Snack: 10 raw pecans, handful of raisins and Banana

3 cups of black coffee

3 cups raw spinach – 15 cherry tomatoes and 20 carrots

1 Vitamin D3 5000 IU
1 Viatmin C 1000mg

Banana
Handful of Raisins
10 Raw Pecans

3oz Chicken
Vegetable Broth
Chopped Onions
Sun-dried Tomatoes
Asparagus
Potatoes

1 Apple
1/2 Pint of Raspberries

And, finally, below are my DAY 1 front, back and side view images. Every week I will post new shots to track my progress:
